Jan. 26, 1700 is the last time a 9.0 earthquake and tsunami started on the Cascadia Subduction Zone. We know the exact date of the tsunami, Jan. 26, 1700, because the tsunami eventually hit Japan and the Japanese recorded it as an "orphan" tsunami.
